Judicial Services (Civil Judge — Junior Division)

Entry into the judiciary as a Civil Judge, recruited state-wise through the judgeship exam.

Salary: Civil Judge (Jr Div) — approx ₹77,840 basic per pay commission, ₹1.1L+ gross with allowances

Eligibility

  • LLB from a recognised university and enrolment with a State Bar Council
  • Age generally 21–35 years (varies by state)
  • Some states require practice experience for higher judicial services

  • Read bare acts repeatedly — CPC, CrPC/BNSS, IPC/BNS, Evidence, Contract, Transfer of Property.
  • Note state-specific local laws and the local-language paper early.
  • Practise judgment writing and translation weekly.
  • Follow recent Supreme Court and High Court judgments.
  • Take full-length Mains mocks in handwriting.
